Donald Trump’s first wife Ivana was found dead inside her New York City flat on July 14 at age 73, just nine months after the death of her ex-husband Rossano Rubicondi – who she reportedly took care of until the end.
In 2016, Ivana was outspoken about how she had several boyfriends and no desire to remarry.

With four ex-husbands in her lifetime, it’s perhaps no surprise that Ivana wasn’t looking for love in recent years.
So who exactly were Ivana Trump’s husbands?
Alfred Winklmayr: the Austrian skier who kept it platonic

Ivana, at the time a 22-year-old professional skier – she was even once an Olympics alternate – wed fellow winter sports athlete Alfred Winklmayr, then 25, in Prague, in 1971. However, they didn’t marry for love, according to a statement from her lawyer, Michael Kennedy, in 1990. He said that Winklmayr was only a friend she married because she wanted “her freedom” from her native Czechoslovakia, which was under a Communist regime at the time.
Calling the union a “Cold War marriage”, the lawyer said it “was never consummated” and that the couple never lived together. Kennedy explained that she got an Austrian passport in March 1972, emigrated to Canada in September that year, then dissolved the marriage in August 1973 after a mandatory waiting period.

Donald Trump: the father of her children

Ivana met property developer Donald when she was in New York for a work trip in 1976. At the time she was a 26-year-old model and recalled Donald helping her and her friends get a table at a packed restaurant, per British media. The couple apparently hit it off and married the following year.
They went on to have three children: Donald Jr., Ivanka (Ivana Jr., essentially) and Eric Trump. Ivana became a naturalised US citizen in 1998, four years after Eric was born, but split from Donald after he was caught cheating with Marla Maples – with whom he would go on to marry and have daughter Tiffany Trump with.

Ivana walked away with US$14 million from the divorce, US$650,000 per month in child support payments, their Connecticut home, a flat in Trump Tower, and one month a year had use of the Mar-a-Lago estate Donald, Melania and Barron live in until this day.
“She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life,” Donald wrote on social media following her death. “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.”
While she was apparently on good terms with Donald before her death, Ivana hinted in 2016 that she still hadn’t forgiven his second wife. “She broke up my marriage,” Ivana told British media about Marla Maples. “I would not accept her apology, but I have zero problem with Melania.”

Riccardo Mazzucchelli: the businessman she divorced after 20 months

Ivana met Italian entrepreneur Riccardo Mazzucchelli in 1991 and he wooed her by sending her a room full of roses after their lunch date, according to People. He first proposed with a 10-carat diamond ring but got turned down, according to the publication, then Ivana finally said yes three years later when he popped the question with a Burmese sapphire. They married in 1995, but it only lasted 20 months.

“I loved Ivana a lot, and I think I did my very best. I did for her more than Donald ever did,” Mazzuchelli – who had been married once before and has an adult child of his own – told People. Ivana sued him for US$15 million, citing a breach of a confidentiality agreement, but they settled out of court. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 74.
Rossano Rubicondi: her on-and-off Italian toy boy

Years after Donald married Melania and they welcomed son Barron, Ivana, then 59, wed actor Rossano Rubicondi, then 36, in 2008 at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, the current home of the former US presidential family. The marriage was over the following year in 2009, but the couple were on and off for the next decade and even appeared together as contestants on Dancing with the Stars in 2018.

They split again in 2019, with Ivana citing the relationship being long-distance and saying it “ran its course”. However, she was “devastated” when he died last October, People reported at the time. She was said to be taking care of him before he died at age 49 from complications related to skin cancer melanoma and they were reportedly seen together five times the year he died.
Rubicondi’s Italian director friend Roberto Alessi told the Italian publication Corriere della Sera: “Lately he got closer to Ivana Trump and many thought they also wanted to remarry.”
