It’s the return that royal fans have been waiting for: Princess Charlene Wittstock of Monaco has, after months of medical traumas, family separation and much speculation, made her first public appearance in months with her husband Prince Albert and children Jacques and Gabriella. She was at the sixth round of the 2022 Formula E championship being held in Monaco, showing off a platinum blonde cropped hairstyle, grey suit and simple diamond earrings.

Throughout Charlene’s year of confusion, extreme medical emergencies and hardship, her every move has been analysed. This was the first time the public has caught a glimpse of her in months after medical issues saw her stuck in South Africa for much of 2021.

At the end of May 2021, the first reports around Princess Charlene’s health emerged after the royal was supposed to attend the Monaco F1 Grand Prix in Monte Carlo, on May 23.

At the time, the palace said in a statement that the princess had contracted an ENT infection, which had left her grounded in South Africa. She was in the country raising awareness about rhino poaching when she fell ill. According to People, her health issues were related to complications from a sinus lift and bone graft procedure she’d undergone in preparation for dental implants.
