So the rumours were true – Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson are officially dating! Although it doesn’t come as a surprise for many of us, given the past few months of hints and the duo being spotted together, it became social-media-official when Kim K posted a slide show of couple photos on Instagram on March 12.
It’s the first time the billionaire Skims founder has posted an image of them since they were romantically linked in October, when they were spotted holding hands on a roller coaster at Knott’s Scary Farm.

The photo followed from Kardashian’s recent interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she excitedly gushed about her new beau. It was her first talk show appearance since her divorce from Kanye “Ye” West was finally approved in court in early March.

It was an unlikely match

When news broke last year that there was an intimate link between Kardashian and Davidson, it set social media alight.
Saturday Night Live’s Davidson is a 28-year-old American comedian and actor who has dated fellow celebrities like Ariana Grande, supermodel Kaia Gerber and Kate Beckinsale.

To pair the tattooed goofball (of which, according to People, he has “a few” dedicated to their relationship) with the 41-year-old glamorous jet-setter once seemed a far-fetched thought, but after fans and speculators settled down, they’re actually now considered quite cute together. And his charming personality – and height – helps.
According to US Weekly, actor Ben Stiller was not surprised to hear that the SNL star had won Kardashian over so quickly. “[Pete’s] an incredibly sweet guy. He’s so personable. He’s got such charisma,” he said during a February interview on The Howard Stern Show. Meanwhile, his ex Beckinsale “liked” a meme about his “nice personality winning over stars”.


And as for Kim K? She seemed to be smitten on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying, “I have the cutest pictures of us and I want to be like, ‘Oh my God, we’re so cute.’”
They shared a kiss on SNL

Ironically, Kardashian actually tweeted a photo of Davidson with West from 2019 celebrating Kid Cudi’s birthday. But fast forward to October 2021 and the soon-to-be-divorced Kardashian appeared on SNL for her first appearance, where she shared a kiss on-screen with Davidson in a sketch as Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.


And that was apparently the moment that sparked a relationship, given that by mid-November an insider told US Weekly that she was “falling for” him.

Ex-husband Kanye West does not approve

It’s no secret that West and Kardashian’s divorce was a messy one. As the most influential power couple in Hollywood since Brangelina, the duo were married for six years and had four children together before calling it quits in January 2021. According to Brides, to the dismay of millions of fans worldwide, Kardashian then filed for divorce on February 21. She was declared legally single on March 2 this year. The Grammy singer has been linked to Julia Fox and Kardashian-lookalike Chaney Jones since their split.

But since the relationship rumours about Kardashian and Davidson started, West has been entangled in a feud with the comedian. In February this year, the rapper posted a series of controversial Instagram posts where he reportedly refers to Davidson as the “skete” who is “lurking in every dirty a** alley waiting to help destroy your family”. He also stated, “I wish my wife was with me and our children.”

West also mentions Davidson in one of his songs, Eazy. Although the newly formed couple did not react at first, Davidson did however rejoin Instagram after a three-year hiatus from the app. According to Capital FM, things changed when the SNL star clapped back by reportedly sending Kardashian’s ex-husband a photo of him in bed with her. And so, the drama continues …

Meanwhile, the team – aka family – behind Keeping Up With The Kardashians very much approve of Kim K’s new beau. A source told E! News that, “Pete is getting close with Kim’s family and they really like him”, and that they “love this new relationship for Kim and the way he treats her”. They “just want Kim to be happy, and he has made her very happy”. Khloe Kardashian also commented on the Instagram post couple reveal saying, “I love this.”

Davidson, however, is yet to meet his girlfriend’s four children. It may not be long before it does happen though, with Elle reporting a source claiming, “Kim is excited to incorporate him more into her life.”

There has been some speculation on the unlikeliness of the relationship pairing, with some reports claiming it’s a way to get attention for the reality star’s next television series – in which they just secured it for a long deal with Disney and its Hulu broadcaster. But according to New York Post, insiders insist it’s no “showmance” – a reference to publicity acts that celebrities use to boost fame.

Rumours also initially circulated saying that Kardashian was trying to steal the thunder from her sister Kourtney Kardashian and her fiancé Travis Barker. “This is not a stunt,” a source of the Kardashian family told New York Post. “Kim doesn’t need to do that, that’s not her style. There’s plenty of other things she could do to get attention.”
They couldn’t be happier

On her latest appearance on the Ellen show, Kardashian proved she couldn’t be happier with her new relationship status. Radiant and bubbly, her appearance on the talk show gave her a chance to boast about her new partner. “I see a shift in you, an ease to you, a totally different side,” DeGeneres said.

Kardashian responded with all smiles. “I was like, you know what? I’m in my 40s, like, f*** it, just go for it. Find your happiness. I went for it and I took my time. I found it and it feels so good,” the reality star shared, adding: “I want to hold on to that forever.” And if you factor in their recent romantic rendezvous from Staten Island to the Bahamas, the loved-up couple are sure enjoying their honeymoon phase.
