After seven years, the marriage between Chinese entertainment power couple Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming is apparently coming to an end. The pair are drawing an amicable close to their marriage and will raise their five-year-old son together, according to a new Weibo post from Huang’s studio.
The news has come as a shock to many, but fans have suggested that the signs were there all along. Read on to find what you might have missed.

1. The missing wedding ring

Shangai-born, Hong Kong-raised Angelababy’s six-carat Chaumet diamond ring cost US$1.6 million – no wonder it made headlines when the pair got married in 2015.
But over the past few years, netizens noticed Angelababy replaced her hard-to-miss wedding band with a smaller ring, with the change fuelling rumours that all was not well at home.

Eagle eyed fans noticed that Angelababy’s wedding ring was missing at recent public events such as Zhejiang Satellite Television’s 2022 New Year countdown event. And that only meant one thing ...
2. All those trips alone

With increasing sightings of Angelababy spending quality time alone with her son, Little Sponge, it was no surprise to see divorce rumours circulating.
For her son’s third birthday in 2020, Angelababy appeared to have celebrated the occasion alone without Qingdao-born Huang.
Later, mother and son also apparently travelled to Hokkaido in Japan without the actor.

3. That mother-in-law revelation

There are many factors that make or break a marriage. For Angelababy and Huang’s, it was his mother – but maybe not how you would think.
Huang, 44, admitted that he tied the knot in part because of his mother’s adoration for Angelababy, 32, according to a Sohu report last year.
The article alleged it was Huang’s mother who first found Angelababy pretty and he would not have married her if not for his mother’s influence. Not exactly the roots of harmonious lifetime together.

4. When Angelababy quit Huang’s entertainment company

Throughout their relationship, Angelababy was signed to Huang’s entertainment company, Mountain Top. But when news broke last year that she was leaving the agency, fans and netizens speculated something was amiss in their relationship.
Angelababy later went independent for a period, according to the Drama Panda website, before she snugged a contract with Yuekai Entertainment in late 2021 – joining A-list celebrities like Song Qian and Wu Zun.
Thanks to her new agency, she was offered the lead role upcoming drama Twilight Heart Covenant alongside popular actor Allen Ren Jialun, suggesting her new single life has got off to a positive start.

While Angelababy has had her fair share of highs and lows, her only acting roles in the last few years have been less prestigious online dramas. The new TV role suggests a possible turning point for her career.
5. Her dramatic weight loss

Being an actress and model, Angelababy has always been known for her slim figure but fans recently became worried when they noticed how much weight she lost in photos she uploaded on Weibo.

During Zhejiang Satellite Television’s New Year 2022 countdown event, her bare-backed gown revealed her spine. Elsewhere, during the filming for Super Fun Skiing Conference, fans spotted wrinkles forming on her face, a sign of sudden weight loss, they claimed, speculating the cause as the stress of separation with Huang.
