Are Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner obsessed with Chinese culture? Kids Arabella, Joseph and Theodore are learning Mandarin, but their mum could brush up on her ‘Confucian proverbs’ …
- Eating longevity noodles has become a family birthday tradition and Ivanka brought Arabella with her to a Lunar New Year event at the Chinese embassy
- Ivanka may have given up her fashion brand when she got a job at the White House with dad Donald Trump, but speculation remains she may relaunch in China
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are having a love affair with Chinese culture, bringing the country’s traditions into their home and possibly even having business interests there. Of course, they wouldn’t be a Trump couple without the occasional hiccup on social media, too.
Here are just a few reasons why many fans of the couple believe Ivanka and Jared are obsessed with Chinese culture.
The kids are learning Mandarin
Jared and Ivanka hired a Chinese nanny to bring the culture into their home – and it seems to have worked. In November 2012, Ivanka told SCMP: “I don’t know much, but I can pretty much name every animal in the zoo, so if I go on a safari, I’ll be able to use my Mandarin. It’s not so practical, but I’m learning.
“My daughter doesn’t speak much yet, but she seems to know as many words in Mandarin in terms of understanding what they mean as she does in English.”
She has since shared a video of Arabella singing a New Year song in Mandarin, so the kids have clearly come a long way.
