Aside from Malaysia’s notorious, “crazy rich Asian” weddings, the affluent neighbouring city state Singapore has its own set of cash-rich, star-studded couples getting married in lavish, dreamy weddings. Read on to find out which Singaporean bride had a Disney-like mermaid wedding complete with an aquarium, who got hitched in the snowbound Alps in Switzerland, and at whose wedding Mandopop star Wang Leehom showed up to serenade the happy couple.

What would the Little Mermaid’s wedding have been like if she had it in Singapore? Just ask mermaid-obsessed Rachel Wee, heiress to the Jean Yip Beauty salon group, who married beau Ken Chen in a lavish, underwater-themed wedding at The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina Bay in April 2019. “I’ve loved mermaids since watching The Little Mermaid,” Wee told HerWorld.
The couple treated 600 guests to a US$3,700 giant faux clam shell, photo ops with an aquarium display filled with live fish, and Wee’s dad who was dressed up as Neptune, god of the sea.

Wedding gown designer by day, Jessicacindy Hartono got the winter wonderland, fairy tale wedding of her dreams when guests gladly flew all the way to Switzerland to see her get hitched to JustCo start-up founder Kong Wan Long in January 2019.
The winter season’s snowfall added a magical touch to the couple’s reception outside the luxurious Le Grand Bellevue hotel in Gstaad, in the Alps.
“It had not snowed for the past month and we were so lucky to have it on the day of our ceremony,” said Hartono at the time.

Back in 2013, Taiwanese pop star Vanness Wu – a former member of the now-defunct boy band F4 – married Arissa Cheo, the heiress to edible oil refiner Mewah Group. The couple first had an intimate ceremony with 100 guests at the luxurious The Resort At Pelican Hill hotel in California, which Cheo described as “the most amazing place ever” on Instagram.
Then, many of Wu’s celebrity friends were spotted at another ceremony at an undisclosed location in Singapore, including Mandopop star Wang Leehom, who dedicated a song to the newlyweds along with his blessings.
Sadly the couple split up in 2018.

In 2017, Singaporean influencer Naomi Neo and her husband Hann Lim took to the floral landscape of the city’s Botanic Gardens for their registration of marriage ceremony – but that’s far from all.

The couple then boarded a private yacht at the marina for dessert, kayaking in the sea and the traditional Chinese tea ceremony that brought Neo’s grandmother to tears. A year later, after Neo gave birth to their son Kyzo, the duo jetted off to various locations in Europe including Paris, Milan and Prague for their honeymoon and gorgeous post-wedding photos.
