  • The Trump Organisation boss agreed with Republican Senator Bob Corker when he said Ivanka was good vice-president material, calling her ‘smart, smart, smart’
  • He said he missed Ivanka and Jared Kushner’s children, praised her book Women Who Work and defended her against Twitter criticism from Olympian Gus Kenworthy

Eric Trump has often been the butt of the public’s jokes about dad Donald’s relationship with his children, and the Trump Organisation boss certainly appears to have taken a back seat to allow his more famous sister, Ivanka, to bask in the spotlight. But how well do the two siblings really get on?

Eric thinks Ivanka would make a great Veep

Despite Ivanka being the more popular of the two, Eric has shown nothing but full support for his elder sister. He even publicly declared that she would have made a great vice-president on her father’s ticket in 2016. After Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee told MSNBC that Ivanka would make a good running mate – noting her qualities of being “composed, brilliant” and “beautiful in every way” – Eric agreed the following day. He told Fox & Friends: “She’s got the beautiful looks – she’s smart, smart, smart.”

He boasts about Ivanka’s political “influence”

Despite Ivanka being White House adviser on jobs at the time, Eric claimed in 2017 that his sister was so influential she probably prompted the then-president to carry out air strikes against Syria. “Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I’m sure she said: ‘Listen, this is horrible stuff,’” he told The Daily Telegraph when asked about the US’s response to a chemical attack carried out by Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Eric has also championed her success as a businesswoman
