K-drama news

With Criminal Minds stars Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won in the lead roles, TVN K-drama Flower of Evil may be one of the most popular Korean series on television right now, but there are quite a few things about the crime-thriller that don’t make any sense – these gaping holes in the storyline have left us scratching our heads

TVN’s most-watched drama right know is the crime thriller Flower of Evil, starring Criminal Minds stars Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won. Since the first episode, the series has been receiving high ratings for its numerous plot twists, outstanding performances and realistic cinematography, and fans are now preparing for the much-anticipated finale, which will be broadcast on September 23.
The story follows Baek Hee-seong (Lee Joon-gi), a metal craftsman who must hide his identity as Do Hyun-su – son of the alleged Yeonju City serial killer Do Min-seok – from his wife, detective Cha Jiwon (Moon Chae-won). The couple have a loving family together with their five-year-old daughter Eun-ha, and his “parents”, who are not happy about his relationship with Jiwon or his decision to live his life as Hee-seong.

As the Yeonju City killer case is reopened, Hyun-su must find out who his father’s accomplice is and clear his name and that of his sister’s.

But there are a few things about the plot so far that don’t add up. Here’s a look at the biggest head-scratchers so far (if you’re planning to watch the crime-thriller and hate spoilers, stop reading now!):

Why did Soon-kil give Hyun-su the tip-off when the voice was clearly different?

Nam Soon-kil, Chinese restaurant owner and former colleague of Do Hyun-su, called reporter Kim Moo-jin with a tip-off about Hyun-su. When Hyun-su locked Moo-jin in his workshop basement, he went to Soon-kil and Moo-jin’s meeting place to intercept the tip-off. Soon-kil immediately tips off Hyun-su without hesitation, revealing that Hyun-su had been calling him every morning and threatening him. But they lived and worked together for three years, even to the point of nearly killing each other over money, so why didn’t Soon-kil recognise Hyun-su’s voice? Hyun-su didn’t even use technology to alter his voice.

How could Jiwon not recognise her own husband?
