Before Parasite: Choi Woo-shik’s past K-drama and movie roles – including Netflix hit Okja and zombie thriller Train to Busan

Did you know he appeared in the romcom Fight for My Way with Park Seo-jun and Train to Busan with Gong Yoo? Look back on these and his other past roles before the Oscar-winning film

If you’re a fan of Korean dramas and movies, you’ve probably recognised most, if not all, the stars of the global sensation Parasite. Among the main cast members, the youngest male actor is Choi Woo-shik, who is turning 30 this Thursday, March 26.

Before his fame as Kim Ki-woo, or Kevin, for the Academy Award winning film, here are some of his previous roles.

Hogu in Hogu’s Love (2014)

In this romantic comedy, Choi plays a man who has never had a girlfriend before. He runs into his first love, played by Uee. She was the most popular girl in high school and at the time of their reunion, she’s famous as part of the national swim team. The couple has a wonderful time as they reconnect, but Hogu finds out a surprising thing about the woman that would change his life.

Young-gook in Train to Busan (2016)

In case you don’t remember, he was in this hit zombie movie with Gong Yoo. In fact, he’s with the same entertainment agency – Management SOOP – as the Goblin actor along with Gong Hyo-jin and Bae Suzy. In Train to Busan, Choi plays a young baseball player who was shy yet ended up bravely defending his friends from the onslaught of zombies.

Park Moo-bin in Fight for My Way (2017)

Park Seo-jun, who made a cameo in Parasite, is actually a close friend of Choi Woo-shik. They call their group of friends (which includes BTS' V) Wooga squad. Choi actually made a special appearance in one of Park's hit romcoms, Fight for My Way. He played a doctor who tried to win over the lead female character.

Kim Goon in Okja (2017)

Choi has starred in a Bong Joon-ho film previously, too. The Korean-Canadian actor was in the Netflix Original film Okja, which revolved around a super pig that was specially bred and was being raised by a little girl and her grandfather. Choi played a young truck driver for the corporation that bred the super pig.
