5 things about Indian royal and Bollywood star Sara Ali Khan you may not have known
She is from a royal family in India and was once severely overweight, but what else is there to know about the gorgeous Bollywood star?
The Bollywood actress is only 24, but has already appeared in the films Kedarnath and Simmba in 2018, has earned the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and – as you probably already know – has two more films scheduled for release this year. Here are some things you probably don’t know about her yet.
1. She’s a royal
Sara Ali Khan is a member of one of India’s royal families, the Pataudi family. The family is an Indian dynasty, whose nabobs, or autonomous rulers, reigned over their princely states. The last ruling nabob ended his reign in 1948, but the descendants of the families continue to be rulers in name. Khan’s father, Saif Ali Khan, is the current nabob.
2. She’s well educated
Despite her royal background, Khan pursued traditional schooling. She attended Columbia University in New York City, where she studied history and political science. She graduated in under three years, instead of the typical four, and took the remaining time off to lose weight and get into shape. Speaking of which …
3. She has had a stunning transformation
As a teenager, Khan was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that makes it hard to lose weight. She used to weigh more than 200 pounds, but starting in 2016 she fought hard to get herself into shape for her debut. Khan practised yoga and attended boot camp, and started weight training, swapping out junk food for protein bars. In several months, she had achieved an inspiring transformation, and when she filmed her 2018 debut Kedarnath, she was the picture of health.
