While celebrity divorces are nothing new, there are a few that, for one reason or another, turn out to be shocking. Read on to discover the 10 most surprising divorces of the past decade.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus were adamant about spending the rest of their lives together when they tied the knot in December 2018. However, the couple decided to separate after just eight months of marriage. A few days after the split, Cyrus, who has admitted to being attracted to women, was photographed kissing Kaitlynn Carter. Hemsworth filed paperwork for divorce a few days later.

Jeff and Mackenzie Bezos

Jeff and Mackenzie Bezos’ 25-year marriage came crashing down as the National Enquirer published a slew of sleazy text messages between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his lover, former television anchor Lauren Sanchez. The world was shocked to discover that the couple, who married before Jeff made his fortune, didn’t have a prenuptial agreement. However, matters were resolved fairly amicably and Mackenzie is now one of the 25 richest people on the planet while her husband retains first place on the list.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

“Brangelina”, as the couple was known, seemed rock-solid in their commitment to each other. They were adept at keeping their private lives private, and it seemed nothing would end their lifelong commitment to each other. Fans were shocked to find that, in 2016, Jolie had filed for divorce from Pitt, claiming that his parenting methods, weed and alcohol consumption, and anger issues were reasons for the split.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver seemed to be the perfect power couple. They weathered the ups and downs of marriage for 25 years even as rumours swirled that Arnold had engaged in affairs and sexual misconduct. Sadly, the marriage came to an abrupt end in 2011 when Maria Shriver left the couple’s home. Days later, news broke that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered a son with one of their housemaids just a month after his and Maria Shriver’s son Christopher was born.

Model Heidi Klum and singer Seal never missed an opportunity to tell the world how much they loved each other. Fans were shocked beyond belief when the couple announced their divorce and then took to news outlets to disparage each other. It was an unbecoming end to an ostensibly happy seven-year marriage.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was widely mocked when she announced in March 2014 that she was “consciously uncoupling” from her husband, singer Chris Martin.
