Why Ariana Grande stopped getting Botox and lip fillers: the R.E.M Beauty founder recently shared that her relationship with beauty is changing and that ‘ageing can be such a beautiful thing’
- Ariana Grande recently revealed that she got lip fillers and Botox in the past, tearing up in her video interview when she said, ‘for a long time, beauty was about hiding’
- The R.E.M Beauty founder acknowledged that she may still ‘get a facelift in 10 years’, but she wanted to be transparent about her relationship with beauty – and embrace the ageing process
“I feel like my relationship to beauty has changed so much over the years, especially because I started so young,” Grande, 30, said in a video for Vogue’s beauty secrets series, released on Tuesday.
“Being exposed to so many voices at a young age, especially when people have things to say about your appearance, it’s really hard to know what’s worth hearing and not,” she continued. “But when you’re 17, you don’t know that yet.”
Ariana Grande’s beauty moment of truth
The musician said that over the years, she “used make-up as a disguise or as something to hide behind”. This included fuller hair and thicker eyeliner.
“And that can be so beautiful at times and I still do have love for it and appreciation for it,” Grande added. “But I think as I get older, I don’t love that being the intention behind it any more. I think of it as self-expression now, and accentuating what is here.”
As Grande began applying her lip products in the video, she said: “I’ve had a tonne of lip filler over the years and Botox,” and explained why she chose to get enhancements and what made her want to give them up.
