In All Intimacy, whose first chapter was inspired by Rafael Nadal and Maria Perelló, continues with fragrances from Heron Preston and Sabrina Albarello, each capturing the essence of a unique bond

This year, Henry Jacques celebrates a half-century of crafting exquisite, bespoke perfumes. The brand’s In All Intimacy collection translates personal narratives into olfactory art, with its first chapter inspired and co-created by tennis legend Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Perelló.

Unveiled last November, the second edition comes via professional and romantic partners Heron Preston and Sabrina Albarello, she being co-creative director of womenswear at his eponymous fashion label. So how did each go about encapsulating the essence of their relationship in a fragrance?

Sharing three key ingredients, Preston’s and Albarello’s perfumes are harmonious and at the same time distinct – mirroring the balance and connection of their bond. As Albarello notes, “Our fragrances are interconnected and somehow one complements the other.”

For Preston, the creative process involved a journey through raw materials that evoked memories and desires. His fragrance opens with a clean, crisp burst of freshness, courtesy of Brazilian palmarosa. This initial vibrancy evolves into a blend of rose and bergamot, transporting him to summers in Europe by Albarello’s side. From there, the dryness of hay and warmth of tonka bean take him on a sensory journey back to his childhood home, reminding him of the scent of freshly baked cookies and the sounds of his siblings playing in the garden. Finally, the richness of sandalwood, benzoin, vanilla and leather notes conjure evening reveries by the fireplace. As Albarello puts it, Preston’s fragrance is “very special, very different, very Heron”.

Albarello’s own creative experience was equally profound in nature. “As soon as I got the first samples, it only took me two days to decide,” she shares. Like a warm embrace, her perfume is soft and enveloping at the start, infused with notes of cinnamon and cardamom. The cosiness continues with tonka bean and clove, which is joined by vanilla and benzoin – embodying the couple’s union. Finally, delicate white flowers bring sensuality and elegance to this beautifully balanced scent. Preston – who detects a certain innocence within – describes the fragrance as “very kind and loving”. For her part, the creator perceives a more complex, profound character to a perfume she sees as versatile enough to transition from day to night. “It’s chic and timeless,” Albarello says, adding, “You must have a strong personality to wear it.”

Naturally, each fragrance reflects the principal individual behind it. Preston’s achieves complexity by marrying freshness and warmth, while Albarello’s balances softness and strength – an apt reflection of her personality, according to her other half, who observes, “Sabrina makes me feel safe, but she can be fierce.” The couple’s perfumes, much like their relationship, are a testament to the beauty of balancing individuality and interconnectedness.
