Ziggy Chen's old-and-new China look for the modern-day dandy
Shanghai-based designer's capsule collection features androgynous tailoring and designs inspired by Chinese garments of 17th and 18th centuries, writes Alba Pinto
In 2012, after 12 successful years at Decoster, the face behind one of China's oldest fashion brands created his eponymous menswear label. Shanghai-based Ziggy Chen is all about contrast: blending old with new, East with West.
"We wanted to add something that doesn't exist in regular collections," says Chen. His capsule collection features androgynous tailoring and designs inspired by Chinese garments from the 17th and 18th centuries. A new pinstripe print features on the bulk of items, and raw fabrics give the modern cuts an old-world feel. It's a lightweight, casual but striking collection for the modern-day dandy.
