The future is bright As summer fades into autumn, we cling ever more tightly to vibrant, colourful designs to help pull us through the cooler season. If you’re not one for drawing attention on a jaunt down Queen’s Road Central, however, then Giles may not be for you. Luckily, our tan has faded enough to withstand the collection’s orange theme, and we love this frilled glowing dress (far right; HK$16,500). The funky, tropical birds that dominate the latest designs, as seen on the printed skirt (HK$9,900) and matching top (HK$8,500; both right), are also fabulous. Hit and myth Van Cleef & Arpels’ latest collection is the stuff of fairy tales. The jewellery line, Peau d’Âne, draws on the French fable of the same name, in which a princess disguises herself in a donkey’s hide to escape her father, the vile king. To this day, Van Cleef & Arpels counts royalty among its clientele, and we suspect these designs are exactly what author Charles Perrault imagined for his princess. If anyone fancies whisking us off our feet, kindly choose the Amour ring (top left), with its giant emerald surrounded by diamonds and set in white gold. Strappings of fame Oh Mulberry, you get it so right every time. After the frenzy caused by the label’s signature Bayswater bag, the British fashion house has gone and done it again, this time collaborating with wild child Cara Delevingne. The new collection doesn’t deviate much from the Mulberry aesthetic but there are hints of the model’s rogue, playful style. She’s even convinced the designers to fasten detachable rucksack straps onto the bags. Our favourites are the khaki camouflage version (bottom right; HK$24,600) and the one in green quilted nappa leather (top right; HK$15,800).
