Strict sense Colour has no place in Hugo Boss' winter offering as Jason Wu, the label's new artistic director, shows a penchant for monochrome pairings and precision tailoring. Structure ignites the collection with staples ranging from mid-length pleated skirts to strict, belted jackets, although nude and silver sequins on soft embroidered dresses defy the season's severity. We love the black and white bleed-stripe A-line dress (far right; HK$26,550) and the black woollen trench coat with tan lining (right; HK$16,800). Hugo Boss is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, Central, tel: 3695 3388.

Boot camp Get a kick out of the resurgent 1960s trend with knee-high boots by Gucci. We love the medium block heels, which are en vogue. For the more classic women, there is the pristine black version with a small silver buckle (right; HK$12,750), while for those willing to walk on the wild side, there is the leopard-print boot (far right; HK$19,600). Wear them with a short, flirty dress and plenty of attitude. Gucci is in The Landmark, tel: 2524 4492.

Bling it on Ever the iconoclast, Jimmy Choo's pre-autumn collection is characteristically bold. Lashings of glitter and sequins gild this season's clutches and shoulder bags while flat-buckled biker boots modelled on the campaign's front runner, Nicole Kidman, make a rebellious statement. We love the pointed stilettos in metallic Aegean blue (below left; HK$6,490), as well as the Candy shoulder bag in black champagne (below right; HK$5,590) - a glitterati must-have. Jimmy Choo is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2234 7810.
