Hongkonger Madeleine Thompson launched her cashmere label four years ago, rendering cool shapes onto easy-to-wear pieces in classic colours. Having studied law at university and after a stint in jewellery design, it was Thompson's search for pieces she could not find that helped carve out her niche.

Thompson gives all her pieces a bit of a twist. Simple cable-knit jumpers come with snakeskin printed or metallic elbow patches, beanies are adorned with sequins and classic V-necks have asymmetric hems. Her jersey dresses come full length and in beatnik-style stripes. Everything is done in super-soft cashmere and a neutral palette, with the odd brilliant pop of cherry red. The price tags won't break the bank, either.

for an easy dress that's ideal for this time of year, the knee-length, striped A-line number (above; HK$3,295) is perfect. And, when it comes to travel, the large grey cashmere wrap (below left; HK$4,180) or the red Olivia jumper (below right; HK$3,295) would make even the most testing of flights more bearable.
