Bocadito is a great place to hang out with friends for tasty small bites and drinks in a cosy, laid-back setting. Decorated in Gaudi-inspired mosaics, as found on the streets of Barcelona, the restaurant has a chef, Alejandro Torres, who is Mexican but was trained in Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain.
We started off with the must-try Serrano ham, tuna and mushroom croquettes (HK$98) and the vegetarian small tacos (HK$78) filled with tofu, grilled vegetables, cheese and guacamole. The tacos were good, but unfortunately the tofu was lukewarm and too soft for our taste.
Next came the mains of deconstructed ox tail with caramelised vegetables (HK$228), which was very tasty, and the cod cooked in a caper, olive, almond and raisin sauce accompanied by Mexican-style rice (HK$175). Surprisingly, the cod was served with nice and crispy bite-sized skin, which we liked.
For dessert, we had the Spanish classics of crema catalana (HK$65) and chocolate con churros (HK$65), which did not disappoint. From the drinks menu, try the fun and fruity chocolate-rimmed raspberry and strawberry daiquiri (HK$95), or ask for the yummy Caribbean-inspired mixed-rum cocktail that is yet to be named.
