To the surprise of absolutely nobody, BTS are the top K-pop act of 2020 on social media platforms Twitter and Tumblr.
Since 2017 theirs has been the most tweeted account on Twitter, meaning they were also the most tweeted musicians and K-pop group.
BTS member Jungkook’s cover video of Lauv’s song Never Not is the second most retweeted Twitter post of the year, with more than 25 million views and 1.6 million retweets.
The most retweeted Twitter post was one announcing the death of actor Chadwick Boseman.

Exo, Blackpink, Seventeen, and Got7 were the next most-popular K-pop Twitter accounts, while NCT 127, Tomorrow X Together, Ateez, Treasure and Stray Kids accounts were also among the top 10 most tweeted K-pop accounts.
Blackpink are the only female act to make the top 10. They are also among the 10 most tweeted musicians in the world, in seventh place.

On Tumblr, BTS and the group’s seven members topped the activity rankings for K-pop groups and K-pop stars. Stray Kids, Ateez, Exo and NCT 127 filled out the top five places after BTS, followed by Blackpink, Seventeen, Monsta X, Got7 and Red Velvet.
Along with the members of BTS, Exo and SuperM member Baekhyun, Jaehyun of NCT, and Taeyong of NCT and SuperM rounded out the top 10 K-pop stars of the year on Tumblr.
The Tumblr rankings, issued as part of the platform’s Year in Review, showed BTS was the fourth most-interacted-with topic in 2020. BTS held the No 2 spot last year, and were No 1 in 2018.

In Tumblr’s ranking of genres, K-pop was the most popular musical category, while Korean hip-hop ranked 14th.
Meanwhile, both Blackpink and BTS broke YouTube records by owning eight of the 10 “biggest 24-hour debuts of all time” collectively.
