If all this hot and soggy weather has thrown a spanner in your outdoor plans this weekend, do not despair – there is a heap of indoor events occurring to tide you over.
Cinephiles can catch the latest Superman film, while K-pop fans can enjoy a unique festival that turns live concert experiences into immersive cinematic screenings.
If K-fashion is more your thing, head to Times Square in Causeway Bay for a pop-up that celebrates hip brands from South Korea.
Bars citywide are also hosting a range of events – think special menus and guest bartender shifts – in the lead-up to the July 15 announcement of the 2025 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list.
1. Hybe Cine Fest in Asia

Are you ready to give in to the K-pop Hybe and spend an entire weekend celebrating Korean music?
Hybe, the South Korean entertainment giant that manages groups like BTS, NewJeans and Le Sserafim, is taking over 350 cinemas across Asia with back-to-back concert screenings.
Six programmes will screen in 10 territories, including Hong Kong. They will feature BTS’s pandemic-era “Map of the Soul On:e” online concert and other sold-out events by Tomorrow X Together, Enhypen and Seventeen.
Act quickly, though – BTS fans have already snapped up a lot of the tickets.
Incidentally, Le Sserafim will be in Hong Kong on July 25 and 26 as part of their “Easy Crazy Hot” tour.

2. Mini Hyrox training session and Puma shoe trials

Are you keen to try one of the world’s fastest-growing fitness activities?
Hyrox races involve 8km (5 miles) of running paired with eight different exercises.
Join Peter Hopper, from Hong Kong sports retailer Gone Running, and The Gone Runners Saturday Group at Central Pier 10 on Saturday morning at 9am to learn more and give it a go.
Hyrox ambassador Enoch Lam will lead a mini session of six exercises with an 800m run in between them.
Puma, the official sponsor of Hyrox races, will have its Deviate 3 shoes – intended for Hyrox competition – there for participants to try. All who join the event can get a 20 per cent discount on Puma Hyrox gear at Gone Running.

3. Superman


James Gunn’s takeover of the DC universe begins here, with this slightly crazed rebirth.
David Corenswet is a solid Supes – even if we get very little of him as Clark Kent, sadly – who faces public suspicion, manipulated by his old enemy Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).
Less earnest than the Zack Snyder films, this cartoonish effort puts the fun back into DC’s jewel, largely thanks to the appearance of the Man of Steel’s pup, Krypto, and the mouthy Mister Terrific, played by Edi Gathegi.
Gunn casts well, especially Skyler Gisondo as Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, though Hoult’s Luther is not a patch on Gene Hackman’s. Read our ranking of every Superman movie

4. Guest bar shifts galore
With the 2025 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list being announced in Macau on July 15, a host of bars in Hong Kong and Macau are celebrating this weekend with special menus and guest bartender shifts.
The unofficial opening party for Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 is being held on Saturday at The Aubrey in Central, where bartenders from spots in the US, Australia, the UK and Singapore will be shaking and pouring from 10.30pm to 2am.
It is hard to choose just one highlight, as it depends on what your poison is.
Taiwanese mixology? Do not miss Taipei’s Book Ing Bar popping up at The Poet in Central on Sunday between 8pm and 11pm.

Korean flavours? The St Regis Bar Hong Kong will be hosting a Sunday evening (7pm-12am) takeover by Zest, the No 2 bar on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 list.
If you are curious about what the best bars in mainland China are right now, Cardinal Point in Central will be hosting three from 8pm to 10pm on Sunday: CMYK from Changsha, and Bar Blanc and Pony Up from Shanghai.
Over in Macau, check out the line-up at Wood House bar, which will be hosting Bar TCRC, Phowa, Moonrock, Bar Dip and Bar Home in shifts from 7.30pm to 1.30am on Sunday.

5. Seoul fashion market at Lane Crawford

Luxury department store Lane Crawford in Times Square has joined forces with fashion agency Victor Showroom to present a Korean fashion market pop-up.
Innovative brands from Seoul include Sunday Fruit Market, Epingler, Fafamoon, Nothing Written, Atelier Edition and Sienne.
