How a few weeks of diet and lifestyle changes could lower your biological age by years

A study shows women needed two months to lower their biological ages by years – by eating and sleeping better and exercising. You could, too

It took only two months, some lifestyle changes and clever supplement use for six women to turn back their biological clocks an average of 4.6 years.

The women, who ranged in age from 46 to 65 years old, were participants in a study that was published in the journal Aging.

They followed a specially designed diet as part of their eight-week lifestyle programme which aimed to affect the activity and behaviour of their genes in a way that affects ageing.

The women ate the following foods daily:

  • 2 cups dark, leafy greens

  • 2 cups cruciferous vegetables

  • 3 cups colourful vegetables

  • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds

  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds

  • 1 to 2 beets

  • Liver or liver supplement (three 3-ounce [85-gram] servings per week)

  • 1 serving of egg (5-10 per week)

They also had two daily servings of foods considered high in “epinutrients”, which are believed to combat ageing. They included:
