Asian Decanter wine awards
The launch of Asia's most prestigious wine awards represents recognition of the importance of the wine market in the region, Decanter.com editor says
Judging began today in the Asian Decanter wine awards at Cyberport in Hong Kong, and will continue until September 20. The awards are a sister competition to the annual Decanter world wine awards, launched in 2004 and considered the most important in the world of wine.
The competition is open to wines from around the world but focuses on wine available in the Asian market. Jeannie Cho Lee, the first Asian master of wine, co-chaired the event with Steven Spurrier, chairman of the Decanter world wine awards.
Results will be announced on October 24, with the launch of the Chinese edition of Decanter's web site, DecanterChina.com. Reporter Stephen Quinn spoke with John Abbott, editor of Decanter.com, in this video about the start of judging.
