Lunar New Year is all about tradition and one of the most recent is sneakers commemorating the occasion.
This Year of the Rabbit is no exception, with the usual brands flexing their creative muscles in the race to mark the changing of the Chinese zodiac animal.
Fittingly for the Year of the Rabbit, shoe companies have had to be quick to get their celebratory designs out before this year’s early Lunar New Year, though some appear to be late to join the 2023 festivities.
More Lunar New Year releases may come out during the calendar year – 2022’s multicolour Jordan 36 Year of The Tiger sneaker only came out in June, several months after the Lunar New Year fireworks had fizzled out – but that is no reason to sleep on Year of the Rabbit sneakers.
Nike’s limited-edition releases for the previous Year of the Rabbit, an Air Force 1 and the Space Jam “Hare Jordan” AJ7, are still going for well above retail prices on reseller sites such as Goat and StockX.
