Father’s Day is fast approaching – it falls on June 18 in 2023 – so if you have not picked up a gift, now is the time to do so.
Aside from taking your father out for a meal, there are plenty of gifts you can give that are both timeless and practical.
Here are our top six picks for Father’s Day gifts.
1. Tech accessories
These are guaranteed to please dads, but it’s important you choose the right product for yours.
For the father with a propensity for forgetting things, an Apple AirTag can ensure no item is misplaced again.

If your dad has been holding out on upgrading his mobile phone, treat him to one of the newest handsets, such as the Apple iPhone 14 Pro, or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with its foldable display.
If you have noticed your dad squinting when looking at screens – let’s face it, he is getting older – an inexpensive large computer monitor might make a welcome addition to his home office.
2. Wine or whisky decanter
If you have already cycled through your dad’s favourite bottles of wine and whisky on previous Father’s Days, go for something slightly different by giving him a decanter.
Aside from making a statement on the countertop or dining table, a decanter allows your dad’s favourite wine to interact with oxygen in the air, meaning it can “breathe”, before serving. The tannins mellow out, allowing more nuanced aromas to emerge.
Whisky decanters are more functional – most, if not all, come with a lid which maintains the quality of the whisky if the bottle is not finished in one sitting.

3. A classic watch
There is nothing more timeless than a classic watch.
For fathers who like to dress up, the Cartier Tank – based on a 1917 design by Louis Cartier – is a rectangular watch with clean lines and a quiet elegance. For something more versatile, the Omega Speedmaster is a tried-and-true chronograph that can be worn in professional and casual settings.

And how can we forget the MoonSwatch, the collaboration between Omega and Swatch that shook the watch world in 2022? Modelled after the Omega Speedmaster but much more affordable, this collection launched with 11 versions, each inspired by a different celestial body. A 12th was added this year at selected locations.
4. Coffee machine
For fathers who begin every day with a cup of coffee, an at-home coffee machine offers convenience.

Nespresso, for one, offers a range of compact machines with a variety of functions, including milk frothing options and temperature settings. Breville, De’Longhi and Gaggia also offer high-quality coffee machines at various price points.
5. Gym equipment
For the gym buff, a treadmill might inspire him get his daily steps in – if there is space for it. An exercise bike is another way to help him improve his cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
For something more compact, suspension trainers from TRX can be easily secured on doors to provide resistance when doing full-body exercises. If your dad prefers to exercise outdoors, a pair of trainers might do the trick.
6. Work backpack
If your dad is always on the go, a backpack or travel bag might just be the functional gift he needs.
