This Leslie Cheung 70th birthday exhibition offers an intimate look at the Cantopop star
The Hong Kong Heritage Museum exhibition features never-before-shown stage outfits and offers rare insights into Cheung’s private life
Running from September 9 to May 10 next year to commemorate Cheung’s 70th birthday, the showcase features more than 300 exhibits lent by his long-time partner Daffy Tong Hok-tak, his manager Florence Chan Sock-fun and Cheung’s industry friends, alongside items from the museum’s own collection.
Among the expected items are vinyl records, classic stage costumes, film posters and stills, music trophies, and pop culture memorabilia. At first glance, these items may give visitors the impression that it is just another show about Cheung’s stardom, but a closer look reveals that they have been selected and curated to present him not just as an idol, but as a genuine friend and creative artist.
