The hot summer is finally winding down in South Korea, but the K-drama industry will still bring the heat in September with a number of major series, including a steamy literary adaptation and a splashy political thriller.
Here is what to watch over the coming month.
1. Made in Korea season 2
Lead cast: Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung, Woo Do-hwan, Won Ji-an
One of last year’s most high-profile dramas returns, with Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung reprising their roles in the big-budget period drama Made in Korea.
Hyun plays ambitious political operator Baek Ki-tae, who consolidated his grip on power throughout season one and begins the second season as head of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) during a period of massive political turmoil in South Korea.
Jung stars as Jang Geon-young, the dogged prosecutor determined to take him down. Joining them this season is Bloodhounds actor Woo Do-hwan in a new role.
Woo Min-ho (Inside Men) is once again at the helm, while Park Eun-gyo (The Silent Sea) and Park Joon-suk (A Normal Family) return as co-writers. (Disney+, September 9)
