Beyoncé at last wins album of the year Grammy, Kendrick Lamar best record and song

Singer had won 32 Grammys going into 2025 awards but never the biggest prize. Lamar the other big winner, along with Chappell Roan

Beyoncé won the Grammy for album of the year for the first time in her long career at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Kendrick Lamar won Grammys for song of the year and record of the year for “Not Like Us”, while Chappell Roan took best new artist.

Beyoncé was presented with the top award for her album Cowboy Carter by Los Angeles County firefighters, and on reaching the stage to accept it, the singer said: “I’d like to thank and acknowledge all of the firefighters for keeping us safe.

Los Angeles is still reeling from wildfires that claimed 29 lives and devastated neighbourhoods including Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

I just want to say tonight trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love.

The award is the 43-year-old superstar’s first album of the year Grammy out of a record 35 she has won. “I feel very full and honoured,” she said. “It’s been many, many years.”

Kendrick Lamar, who next weekend will headline the Super Bowl halftime show, snagged the two big awards handed out before album of the year.
