Feel the beat at an international Bhangra dance-off this Sunday.
The Hong Kong International Bhangra Competition 2025, the first of its kind, will see teams from around the world compete in the high-octane global phenomenon that originated as a Punjabi folk dance and was popularised by Bollywood.
Bounce along to the rhythms of dhol drums and immerse yourself in the explosive energy, vibrant colours and gravity-defying moves on stage.
Tickets cost from HK$100 (US$13) to HK$180.

2. My Daughter Is a Zombie


Zombies have become so ubiquitous in recent years that their infectious reach extends well beyond the realm of horror cinema. Pil Gam-sung’s hit comedy My Daughter Is a Zombie is a prime example of this phenomenon.
Adapted from a bestselling webtoon, the film chronicles the efforts of a single father (Jo Jung-suk) to protect his daughter (Choi Yoo-ri) from extermination after she succumbs to a zombie virus.
Rather than a horror movie, the film lurches wildly from broad comedy to cloying melodrama through a combination of larger-than-life characters and homespun family values.

3. Barkada x Pineapple Bakery

There is no doubt that the newly opened Pineapple Bakery in Sheung Wan is one of the hottest tickets in town, with its pineapple buns selling out in record time.
If you have not been able to get your hands on one of its coveted buns, then consider booking yourself into Barkada’s weekend brunch to get a taste.
The Filipino restaurant has teamed up with Pineapple Bakery to present a chicken tocino pineapple bun, a sweet-and-savoury sandwich that fuses Filipino and Cantonese flavours. Think the bakery’s signature brioche bun, topped with garlic-pineapple marinated chicken tocino, caramelised pineapple, pickled atchara and garlic-chilli crisp mayo.
The special sandwich is only available on Saturdays and Sundays until the end of August, with 20 available per day, so reservations and pre-ordering are highly recommended.

4. Breathwork and Cold Plunge Workshop

Take time out for a transformative breathwork and cold plunge experience at The Hideout on Lantau Island on August 24.
The two-hour event (HK$680) will be hosted by Danny Fang, who will lean on his knowledge as a breath mastery coach, free-diving instructor and student of Buddhist philosophy, and Hendrik Petrus, the founder of Glacia, a company specialising in cold plunge equipment.
The event begins with a guided breathwork session to calm the mind and energise the body, followed by an ice-cold plunge where participants will be encouraged to focus on controlled breathing. The experience ends with a group circle for sharing insights and gratitude.

5. SPCA x HKJC SumMeow Festival

Cats take centre stage at the SPCA Tsing Yi Centre on August 23 and 24 for the SPCA x HKJC SumMEOW Festival, which celebrates 25 years of the charity’s Cat Colony Care Programme.
The event is a mix of activities and expert-led seminars, but a highlight is a vibrant marketplace with an array of treats, toys and customisable products. Renowned pet photographers Danny Kwan and Kenneth Kwan will be on-site to photograph your furry friends.
Visitors can also take part in fun-filled workshops, including balloon twisting, face painting and toy making. All proceeds will be donated to the SPCA.
