The latter half of “Hong Kong Super March” starts this weekend with the latest edition of street art festival HKwalls.
The month will reach its climax next weekend with the return of Art Basel Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Sevens. So watch this space.

1. Street art festival HKwalls returns to Hong Kong
Hong Kong street art festival HKwalls is back for its 10th edition from March 22 to 30, with a programme packed with live art, interactive workshops and tours.
PMQ (35 Aberdeen St, Central), this year’s festival hub, is where most of the action takes place, the venue hosting a variety of events including the new HKwalls Rooms exhibition that showcases urban and contemporary art alongside the works of mural artists.

A festival highlight is the unveiling at PMQ of a large-scale mural, Indigo Memories, by French artist Hopare that blends his signature flower motifs with portraits of former PMQ residents and current tenants.
Digital art will be on show at Tsim Sha Tsui’s LuminArt Facade and the newly built Kai Tak Sports Park.

2. The Praya x Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop
Modern Chinese restaurant The Praya is introducing a collaboration with decades-old wonton noodle specialist Mak Man Kee, available from March 22 to 31.
The noodle shop was founded in the 1940s and is now run by its second generation; it is also the subject of a recently published book, Mak Man Kee Noodle Soup Since 1958.

The Shek Tong Tsui restaurant has put its own spin on dishes incorporating Mak Man Kee’s traditionally made egg noodles and wontons – think chargrilled Iberico pork char siu with thick egg noodles and house-made soy sauce, rock lobster from Western Australia paired with crispy pan-fried egg noodles, claypot chicken soup with tiger prawn wontons and baby Chinese cabbage, and tiger prawn wontons in white fish broth and bean curd.
The special dishes are available daily from 6pm.

3. When Life Gives You Tangerines


Following its rapturously received opening episodes, the Korean drama series When Life Gives You Tangerines continues its emotional journey following the rich and complicated lives of a pair of hardy lovebirds on South Korea’s Jeju island.
They are played by IU (My Mister) and Park Bo-gum (Record of Youth) in their youth and Moon So-ri (Queenmaker) and Park Hae-joon (The World of the Married) in their later years.
The story of Oh Ae-sun (IU/Moon) and Yang Gwan-sik (Park/Park) stretches from the 1950s to the 21st century, but despite the many ordinary events it chronicles, this is far from being a conventional tale.
The series never loses sight of the hardships South Koreans endured to get to where they are today or the social, class and patriarchal struggles that roil South Korea – because ultimately this isn’t just about Ae-sun’s family; it is about how a young country dealt with rapid social and economic change over several turbulent decades. 4. African goods galore at Central Market
Conscious consumerism is deeply ingrained in the psyche of the modern shopper who prefers to make thoughtful shopping decisions, often with the goal of consuming less and prioritising sustainability.
That means avoiding mass-produced items and instead opting for quality handmade goods, which makes the Africa Store pop-up at the Central Market until March 27 the perfect place to shop with a conscience.
On the second floor, and open from midday until 8pm, the pop-up includes a collection of handmade handbags from Mali and handcrafted jewellery from Kenya. We also love the bogolan products made with hand-produced Malian cotton fabric dyed using fermented mud.

5. Reflections of Self: Celebrate Your Unique Essence
On Saturday afternoon, from noon to 2pm, join a group led by Vannessa Misso-Veness, founder of Cascade Coaching and Cascade Education, to get to know yourself a bit better – and celebrate that about you that is unique.
Misso-Veness will use uplifting music, guided sessions, and means of creative expression to enable participants to unwind, reflect, and engage in activities designed to foster personal growth and self-discovery.
She is a part of the Emma Wallace Women community, which supports a network of women making a meaningful impact in the world and in Hong Kong.
