La Vie Des Champs (1876-1877) by Paul Cézanne. Exhibitions of paintings by Cézanne, Renoir and Picasso are among the events art aficionados in Hong Kong can look forward to in the city in 2025.

As we wrap up 2024, Hong Kong’s art scene is already buzzing with excitement about a number of events next year.

Including shows of paintings by Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Pablo Picasso, here are some highly anticipated art exhibitions in 2025 that have just been announced.

1. Treasures of the Mughal Court

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is slated to have a series of remarkable offerings from ancient civilisations around the world in 2025, one of which features approximately 110 artworks from the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK on the golden age of Mughal rule, between 1560 and 1660, in South Asia.

The Mughal Empire was an early modern empire in which Persian and Hindustani was spoken, and encompassed what today are parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Highlighting the reigns on its best-known emperors – Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan – who ruled between 1556 and 1658, this will be the first comprehensive exhibition in Hong Kong dedicated to its art, and most of the objects on show have never been shown in the city.
