In the midst of Hong Kong’s sweltering heat, urbanites might find themselves yearning for some relaxation or intellectual stimulation to get through July.
While the weather this week is looking unpredictable, most of the events that we have spotlighted can be enjoyed regardless of the conditions.
Hopefully, the rain will hold off if you would like an immersive day of forest bathing. Those looking to indulge their creative side can take part in a workshop designing blue-and-white porcelain that reflects local Hong Kong stories.
In addition to these, there is an Ethiopian feast and a comics exhibition, meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy this weekend.
1. The Rewilding Journey: Forest Bathing

Those in need of nature can travel to Tai Po and engage in a spot of forest bathing – shinrin-yoku in Japanese. Rather than simply walking through the woods, participants are encouraged to engage all five senses in a type of nature-based therapy. Studies have shown that forest bathing can result in a variety of physiological benefits such as a lower heart rate and lowered cortisol levels.
The workshop (HK$350/US$45 per person, HK$275 per person if two or more) this Saturday will be led by Jerome Bautista, an Association of Nature and Forest Therapy-certified guide. The forest bathing sessions are held monthly this year, and each event features a new landscape. There will be a guided walk and a tea ceremony.

2. Injera Night

If you are looking for an immersive experience centred around food and music, Injera Night may be for you. The Africa Centre in Jordan will be hosting an authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean feast complete with traditional stews, authentic injera and fresh salads. The feast is paired with a chilled summer special – iced spiced shai, or Ethiopian tea, which contains a blend of sweet and spicy flavours.
Guests will also be able to enjoy live Kalimba music and a special playlist of Ethio-jazz, which is a genre that mixes traditional Ethiopian music with Western jazz.

3. Blue-and-white porcelain workshop

If you are looking for an immersive, hands-on experience, there is a blue-and-white porcelain workshop scheduled for Saturday at T-Loft@Kai Tak. Participants can create their own ceramic pieces, guided by ceramic artist Nick Poon Fai-wong and Half Corner Studio.
The pieces are designed to reflect the local history of Hong Kong, and each work will be fired at the conclusion of the workshop. Participants can choose to keep their artwork or have it installed as part of a mural at a transitional housing site in Hong Kong.
The event is put together with the support of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

From July 24 to July 28, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will host Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2026, which brings together fans and creators of comics, anime and games alike.
This year’s highlights include ComixPop, the Elefunpop Art and Toy Show, Comic Masters Gathering and the Asia-Pacific Cosplay Carnival. The Dig Dig Island Collector’s Zone will also join the convention for the first time.

5. Three Goodbyes


The first Italian-language feature from prolific Catalan filmmaker Isabel Coixet, Three Goodbyes is an emotional, ultimately life-affirming adaptation of Michela Murgia’s celebrated 2023 semi-autobiographical novel, published shortly before her death.
Anchored by a commanding central performance from Alba Rohrwacher, it charts the efforts of a high-school teacher in Rome to navigate a series of potentially life-altering challenges.
When her long-term partner, Antonio (Elio Germano), announces unexpectedly that he is leaving her, Marta (Rohrwacher) is immediately overwhelmed, both emotionally and physically. Her interfering yet well-meaning younger sister Elisa (Silvia D’Amico) insists that Marta see a gastroenterologist, and the subsequent diagnosis deals her a devastating blow. Read the full review.
