Should girls put make-up on for their boyfriend? A trivial question perhaps, but it is nonetheless one of the hottest topics being debated on popular Chinese social media platform Weibo right now. Some argue that since cosmetics are expensive in China, girls should not let them go unused, while others think they should only make the effort for guys who have the potential of being The One.


Here are three other things that girls should not do for their boyfriend.

Don’t give up your dream job
A true love should help you make progress in your life. You should never give up your dream job for a relationship. If a guy truly loves you, he will want you to pursue your career and figure out a way to support you while achieving his life goals. Girls should consider themselves as important and worthy as their current or future partner.

Don’t disparage your boyfriend in front of friends and family
Don’t get me wrong, you shouldn’t compliment your boyfriend all the time because he will most certainly become overconfident. But showcasing his strengths in front of friends and family should make him feel good about himself (and you). Acknowledging small gestures – like a thoughtful present he gave you or the good attitude he shows to your parents – forms a healthy and balanced basis for a solid relationship.

We get it that girls want to look their best and make a good first impression on a date but too much make-up – like a think layer of foundation – will only make you look over-the-top and unnatural. It also gives people the impression that you hang out in bars and clubs every night. Instead, try express yourself in a natural way and put more focus on your behaviour and attitude.
