China to launch TCM on global health mission over the next 5 years
Health commission chief says the plan is to expand the pool of medicinal plants and improve training and technology

China would expand the global pool of medicinal plants for TCM therapeutics to solve not only China’s health problems but also those of the Global South and beyond.
Addressing the country’s health agenda for the next five years, Lei said that one of the priorities would be to “build a global community of health for all”.
“We will do what we can to help developing countries, especially countries taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance their health service capacity, and provide necessary support in areas such as technology and talent,” he said.
Lei also stressed the need to strengthen public health security over the next five years, with infectious disease prevention and control – “a threat to all humanity’s health” – emergency medical responses for natural disasters, and blood supply safety as central priorities.
