Chinese drone maker scores record 1,600 orders at Dubai Airshow
The country already dominates global patent applications for drones, one report shows, and manufacturers are rapidly expanding overseas
The deal, secured by Shenzhen-based United Aircraft, covered industrial drones used for low-altitude logistics, medical deliveries and agricultural applications in the United Arab Emirates and other markets, local outlet SZnews.com reported. The total value of the orders was not disclosed.
“Demand for efficient and dependable aviation equipment across the Middle East is continuing to rise,” the head of international business at United Aircraft Group said, according to a news release by the company last week.
The company added that it would “further strengthen cooperation with its Middle Eastern partners while expanding into a wider range of application scenarios moving forward”.
United Aircraft has also partnered with an on-demand delivery platform in Abu Dhabi, where its drones would soon provide food delivery services, according to the report.
Middle Eastern nations have shown increasing interest in low-altitude aircraft for their potential to improve transport and delivery efficiency in geographically challenging, sparsely connected regions, while also reducing carbon emissions.
