October 25, 1971, marked the beginning of a new chapter in China-UN cooperation. On that day, the UN General Assembly, at its 26th session, adopted Resolution 2758 to restore all the lawful rights of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations. It was a victory for new China’s diplomacy, a triumph for world fairness and justice, and a milestone for the UN itself.
Over the past five decades, China has taken an active part in UN affairs across the board, and rendered its consistent, enduring and reliable support to the organisation. China has spared no efforts in promoting world peace and common development, and made unique contributions to addressing global challenges.
The United Nations, on its part, has witnessed and participated in China’s development, and offered an indispensable platform for China to play its role as a responsible major country.
