A director at Jackeline Beauty Salon – the Hong Kong chain made famous by its “no acne” ads – has bought a HK$152.27 million (US$19.58 million) Ho Man Tin duplex, underscoring renewed appetite for prime homes among the city’s wealthy.
The executive, Huang Yating, took possession of a 25th- and 26th-floor duplex unit in Tower 3 of Phase 2 of the Ultima development on Fat Kwong Street on Tuesday, according to Land Registry records.
Measuring 2,681 sq ft, the duplex has five bedrooms, according to information posted on the website of Midland Realty. The purchase price works out at HK$56,789 per square foot.
Huang did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The salon is jointly run by Huang and co-director Yang Xiao Ling, also known as Jackeline Yang, according to records from the Companies Registry. The business currently lists three locations on its website: one in Kwun Tong and two in Tsuen Wan.
The beauty centre captured public attention when its posters, plastered on minibuses across the city about a decade ago, famously advertised before-and-after pictures of clients who had undergone the salon’s acne treatment.
Its stark slogan “no acne” also added to its fame.
Huang’s purchase adds to a recent run of big-ticket deals by wealthy residents and investors, reflecting a brighter outlook for Hong Kong’s luxury property sector.
Homes with areas of at least 1,076 sq ft had seen prices decline by as much as 22.7 per cent since they peaked in October 2021, according to government data. So far this year, prices of these properties have increased by 0.94 per cent, according to the latest official data, indicating that prices may have found a floor and are beginning to recover.
The upwards trend in the segment began in June, when the one-month Hong Kong interbank offered rate (Hibor), which is linked to mortgage loans, stayed below 1 per cent.
Hong Kong’s stock market likewise sustained its gains with 44 newly listed companies on the bourse in the first half of the year, up by about half from 30 in the same period in 2024, according to data from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing.
Funds raised through initial public offerings for the first six months of 2025 also surged by nearly 700 per cent to HK$107.1 billion from HK$13.4 billion in the same period last year.
Last week, Matrix Properties, a company associated with Vincent Gao Leyi, founder of Hong Kong-based hedge fund CoreView Capital, took possession of a 9,414 sq ft six-bedroom unit at the upscale development No. 15 Shouson Hill in the Southern district, Land Registry documents showed.
According to the Companies Registry, Gao served as a director of Matrix Properties, along with Jiang Yijun. Gao was also the CEO and chief investment officer of CoreView, according to his LinkedIn page.
Jiang and Bosco Consultancy, with a registered address in the British Virgin Islands, were listed as shareholders of Matrix Properties.

Earlier this month, the vice-chairman and executive director of Tomson Group, Charles Tong Chi-kar, bought a HK$112 million 2,335 sq ft four-bedroom home at The Legacy in Mid-Levels West, according to the Land Registry.
Hong Kong-listed Tomson Group, known for its luxurious Tomson Riviera residential project in Shanghai’s Pudong district, has its primary operations in mainland China. The firm reported a sharp rise in interim earnings for the first half of this year, largely on the back of sale proceeds from the first phase of Tomson Foresta, another major Pudong development.
Other recent transactions include the purchase of two connected units at Wheelock Properties’ Kadoorie Hill project in Kowloon by the son of former financial secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen. Sold for HK$36.4 million each, the flats changed hands on October 3.
That same month, Hysan Development sold three units at its Bamboo Grove complex in Mid-Levels Central for a total of HK$133 million. Two of them were bought by the son of company chairwoman Irene Lee Yun-lien, while the third was acquired by the wife of non-executive director Lee Chien.
In late September, Swire Pacific chairman Guy Bradley bought a 2,832 sq ft flat at 10A-10B Stanley Beach Road for HK$50 million, according to Midland. Swire Pacific controls Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific Airways.
