William Shiyuan Wang
William Shiyuan Wang left China early to study in the United States. After receiving his PhD, he served for over 30 years as a professor at the University of California at Berkeley. He is currently chair professor of language and cognitive sciences at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Some years back, an article in Nature caught my eye. Its title, "Most people are not WEIRD", makes good sense when it is clear that WEIRD stands for Western, educated, industrialised, rich, and democratic.
