Exquisitely crafted fine-bone china porcelain, a decadent reversible dog coat with removable faux chinchilla fur collar, and a fat-free potato crisp maker are just a few of the innovative new products to be showcased at this year's fair.
Also, in line with the environmental concerns dominating home ware industry trends, one creative exhibitor is showcasing a green alternative to plastic or melamine - bamboo.
This year's event promises to feature a versatile range of ready-made household textiles products and home furnishing items that are also easy for buyers to find under specialised product zones.
'This is the second time we are exhibiting at the HK Houseware Fair. It helps our brand on an international level, as buyers come from all over the world, and also on a national or regional level,' says Green Living Zone exhibitor Julia Washbourne, of Business Operations Asia. They manufacture and market contemporary and bamboo products ranging from tableware to lifestyle products to floors, decks and even bamboo fabric. It is also responsible for the Fibra collection, which is made up of bamboo waste taken from factories and broken down into powder and then compressed into dining ware pieces.
'These are a perfect green alternative to any plastic or melamine ware, or even ceramic ware, as it is made from the most sustainable plant with natural plant-based colours and which decomposes once it ends up in a landfill,' Washbourne says.
A first-time exhibitor, Japanese firm Talk Hong Kong will be based in the Hall of Elegance, and the team is looking forward to promoting its Objet and Interior items to potential buyers. 'We are looking forward to meeting as many customers as possible from all over the world,' says Talk Hong Kong's Enomoto Mikihiko.
