If you need to refill - or just stop for a few moments and recaffeinate - you have several choices at Horizon Plaza. Starting right at the top, TREE, on the 28th floor, has a bright, open-plan cafe that not only looks out over the sea but, through a long window, into the furniture boutique's busy carpentry workshop.
 Dishes such as cottage pie, grilled vegetables and feta salad go with a range of cakes and pastries. There is a play area for children. 
Sift patisserie, on the 22nd floor, is a high-end cupcake specialist, with varieties such as chocolate raspberry, lemon meringue and red velvet. It also serves macaroons, tarts, chocolates and drinks.
Viva Italia, the Italian delicatessen on the 11th floor, serves Lavazza coffee and sandwiches filled with the likes of mortadella and salami. No seating is available. 
One floor down, Monde Cafe does have a few comfy sofas, and this chocolatier serves coffee and soy lattes, homemade cakes, pesto chicken sandwiches, lasagne and other pasta dishes.
 Cafe Piatti, inside Shambala on the second floor, serves hot rice dishes and sweet snacks such as cheesecake. You can eat here in a seating area decorated with antique enamel adverts, and there's Wi-fi and a table of paper, crayons and coloured pencils for children.
You have to head across to Ap Lei Chau's old town on the south side of Aberdeen Harbour to find full-scale restaurants. It's just a five-minute taxi ride - ask the driver for Ap Lei Chau main street.
 Most eateries serve Cantonese food, presumably supplied by the nearby fishing fleet. One bright and cheerful example is Fat Kee Seafood Restaurant (2580 8528), which has all its fresh fish and shellfish on display in tanks outside.
 Other cuisines are represented. The Primitive (2870 2800) is a popular Japanese barbecue restaurant with a wide range of items grilled on skewers. Bowls Cafe (2870 0111) is a cha chaan teng that has a combination of Western and Chinese food, while Pizza Cafe (5372 1068) serves pizzas and pastas mostly to local tastes.
The newest, and by far the spiciest, addition to the neighbourhood is Bistro Jinli (2328 2138) on Wai Fung Street. Named after an old district in Chengdu, it serves up fiery Sichuanese cuisine. Menu items include dan dan noodles, hot and sour soups and hotpot. Part of the same group that runs Coco Thai in Deepwater Bay, it has an outdoor seating area. 
From this part of Ap Lei Chau, you can take the sampan across to Aberdeen - a nice ride through the harbour - if you're travelling onwards by public transport.
