While visibility improved in the afternoon, there was a large backlog of delayed flights. The emergency plan for massive delays had been activated at the airport yesterday, CCTV reported.
Xinhua said heavy fog affected airports in Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Harbin, Dalian, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shantou and Zhanjiang. Visibility at Tianjin airport was down to 50 metres.
Flag carrier Air China said 210 of its flights across the country were delayed by midday, Xinhua reported.
