Among the major tourist areas in Sanya, Wuzhizhou Island and Tropical Paradise Forest Park in Yalong Bay are gaining popularity as honeymoon getaways.
Wuzhizhou Island, or the Island of Love, is said to be an untouched microcosm that contains the very best of Hainan, while the forest park  was the location for the popular love film If You Are the One II.   
From its ancient past to its post-revolution history as an important strategic defence zone riddled with tunnels and military posts, Wuzhizhou Island has turned into a romantic resort  with long stretches of soft white sand and an abundance of natural life. 
This butterfly-shaped island covers an area of only 1.48 square kilometres. Colourful reef fish dart about the clear ocean waters, while sea urchins, conch shells, sea cucumbers and coral make the place a popular diving zone.  Underwater visibility can be up to 30 metres. 
Honeymooning couples dot the landscape for wedding photos. Lovers' Bridge and Sunrise Rock are the premier positions to observe the spectacular tropical sunrise, making the island a draw for escapists and romantics. 
Local authorities plan to build China's first tropical sea ranch on the island. About 18,000  cubic metres of artificial reef will  be installed to  provide a perfect  breeding environment for   marine life. 
 The forest park evokes the lush tropical surrounds of  resorts in Southeast Asia and offers a rare opportunity to experience luxury at levels not usually available. 
Designed as an eco-tourism destination, the park offers a unique experience. Delicate thatched roofs hover over the lusciously dense green canopy of tropical trees and give way to luxurious day spas and infinity swimming pools. 
A biological wonderland of natural life forms flying, swimming, swinging and buzzing  can be viewed in all circumstances. In the breeding season, releasing and watching juvenile tortoises make their way across the white sands into the sea can be a wondrous experience. 
For those seeking tranquility, indoor and outdoor spas with specialised massage therapies and a clifftop pool with panoramic  views will soothe any weary soul.
