Qeelin jewellery house cocktail party fetes eight young artists
Jewellery house Qeelin threw a cocktail party at IFC Mall to open its Caring Robot exhibition, which featured work by eight young artists from Hong Kong, Beijing and Paris. They were all entrants in the inaugural Qeelin Art Award competition, which is aimed at nurturing design talent.
Qeelin's creative director, Dennis Chan, is a keen collector of tin robots and teddy bears, and both have inspired his jewellery collections, including the iconic Bobo range (diamond-studded bear pendants) and the newly launched Robot set.
Chan, wearing a diamond-studded robot pendant, spoke highly of the ceramic robot created by Anne-Claire Bottos, which won the award.
'I like the big contrast it creates,' he said, referring to its frosty white appearance but warm smile.
A charity silent auction of the art works in aid of Unicef was held to coincide with Friday's event, with mainland actress Huang Yi officiating.
The starlet said she had just returned from filming in Guangzhou, but helping out for a charitable cause make all her tiredness disappear.
