This year the PC industry is promising to bring a whole new dimension to their products - the third dimension, to be exact.

You've seen it in the movies and in the latest TVs; now 3D technology is coming to the laptop.

While it is not the only 3D-enabled laptop in stores, the price of the Acer Aspire 5745DG makes it one of the most accessible.

Featuring an Intel Core i5-460M processor running at 2.53GHz, a 500GB hard disk drive and 2GB of DDR3 RAM, the Aspire 5745DG packs enough processing power to support most applications. But it is its graphics chip, the Nvidia GeForce GT 425M, together with the 120Hz display, that enables users to enjoy the full 3D experience on the move.

The Aspire 5745DG packs a huge 12-cell battery, but don't expect a significant improvement in battery life - much of the juice will be used to keep the graphics chip powered up. You also get a built-in DVD Super Multi DL drive, which can, apparently, play Blu-ray disks.

The biggest problem for most users is going to be finding the appropriate 3D content and applications to take advantage of what the Aspire 5745DG has to offer. And while you can now buy movies and games featuring the full three dimensions, it will be awfully tempting to upgrade the rest of your gadget pack - camera, camcorder and so on.
