'The recruitment agency's [cramped] third floor was used as a temporary training centre for 150 to 200 women. The floor was dirty, hot and uncomfortable. There were seven bathrooms, but almost no ventilation in the two dormitory halls. It made the rooms really hot and stuffy. Some prospective migrant workers chose to sleep in a corridor, saying that it was more comfortable. There weren't enough mattresses so some used a cloth or a blanket as bedding.

The condition of the seven bathrooms was very bad - unclean. The doors were broken, and there wasn't enough water for all of us.

We had to stand in line from morning until noon to take a shower. We were not allowed to go out, because the agency was afraid that we would run away. If we wanted to buy something, we had to ask the staff.

There was a case of sexual harassment from a male staff member at the recruitment agency. My friend, Siti Julaeha, told me that staff tugged at her hand and touched her. The staff also abused us verbally.

Our departure from the agency was very long and complicated. I waited for four months in the centre, and I went to the immigration office five times because they said that my name was not listed and my document was not in their file. This is why I chose to leave the centre with Siti and Ai.

We left at midnight on May 4. We tied cloths and dresses to make a rope. We use the rope to go down from the third floor and jump to the neighbouring house. My two friends were very scared, and I had to convince them a few times to jump. My feet were scratched from the iron fence, and Ai's feet were sprained.'
