Bali Restaurant G/F, David House 10 Nanking Street Jordan, Kowloon Tel: 2780 2902 / 2780 7789
Grub: This Indonesian restaurant has been in business for more than 30 years. The d?cor may be a bit old-fashioned but the food is still pretty good.
Vibe: There's a 1980s feel, with colourful lamps hanging on the wall, while the tables and chairs are old yet comfortable. There are permanent 'Happy Birthday' signs which, while unexplained, make the diners feel relaxed and happy.
Who to bring: Family and friends. The dim environment is also ideal for young couples on a date. If you're bored of the usual Western-style birthday parties, this restaurant offers another option, with special party menus available.
What's hot: You should order the nasi kuning, Indonesian yellow rice, before you even start looking at the menu. It is a fantastic dish. The rice is served with six types of traditional Indonesian food - including beef, chicken, fish and vegetables - all on the same plate. The tender beef rendang is the best bit.
The honey chicken wings are delicious, too. They are fried first, then cooked with honey. They are big, sweet, juicy and crispy.
