The Link Management's employee barbecue last week was a day of thrills and grills - the sun shone, workers were commended, and a fund-raising initiative was announced.
Ian Robins, the property management company's chief executive, stepped on to an outdoor stage on Friday, thanked his staff for their hard work this year, and then said the firm would match any employee contribution to Operation Santa Claus dollar for dollar.
'I certainly encourage you to be part of that giving,' Robins told the crowd.
The company, which calls itself the largest retail landlord and largest car-park manager in Hong Kong - it runs the car parks, markets and shopping centres and malls on Housing Authority public housing estates, which the authority privatised through The Link Reit - is already donating the proceeds from the sale of special holiday-themed cushions to Operation Santa Claus.
When asked about the latest fund-raising initiative, Robins told the South China Morning Post that the company was delighted to help: 'Whatever the staff provide, we'll match it - and probably we'll top it up anyway.'
Robins then showed his appreciation for his staff by serving them barbecued fare from behind a grill.
