This point-and-shoot digital camera is a pretty good deal. It offers good image resolution at 12 mega-pixels, has a 5x optical zoom lens - equivalent to 35mm; 175mm on a regular camera - and does a lot of things you'd expect your camera to do.
The shutter speed range of 8 seconds to 1/1400 seconds, combined with the ISO range of 64-1600, should meet most shooting requirements, even fast-action sports scenes.
There are features that can be better, like the f3.0 aperture on the lens, which means it won't be possible to take pictures in dim environments. Also, the video quality is limited to 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second.
But then again, you can take this point-and-shoot model anywhere. It uses regular AA batteries, which means you can go on long outings without having to worry about running out of power. There's a full range of pre-set scene settings, which make it easier to shoot in more challenging situations like under bright sunlight, or at the beach.
The best thing about the camera is the affordable price of HK$1,390, which should make it a nice Christmas present this holiday season.
But while Kodak managed to cram lots of features into the C190, it somehow forgot about the design. The product may be affordable, but it doesn't have to look that way.
