Scores of colleagues played golf inside their Central office last Friday for Operation Santa Claus and its 13 beneficiaries.
It was the sixth annual Bank of America Merrill Lynch Minigolf Day, nine holes of fun on the 23rd floor of the Citibank Tower.
The indoor putting course was built mostly from office supplies such as cardboard and tubing. But while simple in construction, the course wasn't designed to be easy.
The 19 teams of three or four players could each erase five bad shots for HK$250. That money, along with entry fees and additional sponsorships, went to Operation Santa Claus, the holiday fund-raising campaign co-organised by the South China Morning Post and RTHK.
One particularly difficult hole was a par five. The ball, if played correctly, should have rolled off a cabinet, through a small tunnel, past some stuffed animals and towards a ramp, which led to a hole in the middle of a raised platform.
But there was a downwards slope on the other side of the platform, and David Sunter, of the operations department, found himself trying to gently putt his ball back up it.
