Love is in the air and it's the sweetest kind of all: first love. Follow the romantic antics of a group of high school girls in the new anime Hatsukoi Limited (First Love Limited).

The series chronicles the girls' first loves and the inherent ups and downs. Hatsukoi Limited saves itself from being a stereotypical romcom by the moe (hyper-cute) girls with surprisingly well-written scripts.

At first glance, the characterisations seem predictable: the sporty, stoic Rika Dobashi, the air-headed Ayumi Arihara, the pretty and seemingly shallow Kei Enomoto and the soft-spoken, arty Nao Chikura. But each episode allows the individuals to develop beyond their anime stereotypes.

Hatsukoi Limited is based on a shonen (boys') manga by Mizuki Kawashita that ran for eight months in Weekly Shonen Jump. Kawashita is mostly known for her previous work Ichigo 100% (Strawberry 100%). The anime adaptation was shown on Animax.

Although labelled as a shonen manga/anime, Hatsukoi Limited should also appeal to girls because of the clever dialogues, cute story line and detailed character development.

The anime opening theme song Future Stream is sung by J-pop girl group Sphere of Influence, while duo Marble sing the end theme song, Hatsukoi Limited. The upbeat poppy numbers are yet another reason to tune into this great show.
