An imaginative, sympathetic and visionary  figure needed to bolster management team
A bright  spark is required to join an activity-based creative arts centre as the deputy director/head of operations.
The Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre was spearheaded by the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), with the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Arts Centre as its strategic partners.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has generously funded the renovation works and part of the start-up costs. It also has the strong support of the government's Home Affairs Bureau.
The centre is managed by a subsidiary company set up by HKBU and operates on a self-financing basis.
The first of its kind in Hong Kong, it is intended primarily to provide studio space and hiring venues for the local arts community and to nurture creative talent - thereby contributing to the promotion of arts and culture in the region.
'This studio centre was created from the 30-year-old Shek Kip Mei factory estate situated in a densely populated area' said Eddie Lui,  the centre's executive director.
Since its official opening on  September 26 this year, the centre had functioned satisfactorily with a large number of practising artists and art groups under one roof, Mr Lui said.
'We really want to bring arts into the community,' he said. 'Already, more than 120  arts groups, predominantly visual artists,   performing arts groups and community arts groups, are based here.'
This healthy tenancy mix is ready to be upgraded into a vibrant and sustainable arts establishment for Hong Kong.
Services range from the provision of studio space to community arts programmes for schoolchildren, members of non-governmental organisations and the public.
'We already attract  more than 2,000 people over Saturdays and another 1,500 through our Sunday programmes,' Mr Lui said.
'It's really making this place lively and bringing art closer to humankind.'
The management's task is to make the centre sustainable and help popularise art.
'We have built up a small management team to manage the centre and usher in visitors and programmes in the long run,' Mr Lui said.
'However, I need a capable assistant who will be my lieutenant in upgrading the centre into a platform whereby artists can practise art and eventually make a living out of their own work.'
The new recruit will work closely with a 10-strong team and support the centre's daily operations.
Duties also include operations support development and exploring marketing, donation and sponsorship opportunities.
The successful candidate will serve as a catalyst between the general public, the arts community and the management team.
Applicants should therefore be imaginative, sympathetic and visionary, Mr Lui said.
'He, or she, would preferably walk the extra mile to make things work for the centre,' he said.
